Dive Into the Reimagined Classic Journey: A Complimentary Trial for DQ7 Reimagined Arrives Soon.

Fans eagerly awaiting the arrival of Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined can get a head start much longer. A exciting demo version will go live on January 7th, providing a generous glimpse into the game's initial chapters. Critically, any advancement achieved within this demo will be able to be carried over directly into the full game upon its eventual debut.

More Than a Straightforward Re-release: The Complete Transformation

This project constitutes a ground-up reinterpretation of the iconic 2000 role-playing game, initially titled Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past. In a notable departure from recent Dragon Quest remakes, such as the recently released HD-2D versions, this remake embraces a striking 3D aesthetic. The world have been crafted to evoke detailed dioramas, with party members featuring a whimsical toy-like design.

"Considering the 3DS version, the main quest was remained notoriously extended. Therefore, we came to a decision that we wanted to condense the story, [and] craft an adventure for contemporary players."

Significant Mechanical Changes & Modernizations

Square Enix have added numerous enhancements to update the original gameplay loop. These include:

  • Streamlined Field Battles: Inspired by contemporary role-playing games, low-level monsters are now dispatched instantly on the field eliminating the need for entering a separate traditional combat sequence.
  • Variable Combat Pace: Gamers have the option to speed up combat animations to rapidly power through easier encounters.
  • New Job Mechanics: A completely new job class was added for this reimagining. Furthermore, characters now have the ability to master a second job, greatly expanding customization options.

Such alterations are designed to mitigate one of the original game's most noted points of feedback: its daunting scope. That initial adventure could easily take over 100 hours to finish. The reimagined version was specifically reworked to improve progression and reduce any bloat.
